no fair

Hurricane Ike is EVIL.

Louisville looks like CRAP! We got hit bad!

No power for up to a week! (writing this on school's computer)

Do I really need to be without power during my big test week with a speech due? Ike is on my hit list.

I just want to know that since I have started college (not even two years yet) we've gone through a tornado, an earthquake, and a hurricane....

Metalsmithing and boos

So I took my very first metalsmithing class. I made a miniature shield and it was a total "oooh what if I do this?" kind of experiment. I enjoyed it but I am the youngest person in the class. (everyone in that class is at least 49 and up..). So I feel like the fountain of youth. I have 5 more classes to go.

I also am going to start another class up next week, "ghost hunting". I am really excited about this.

Has anyone seen a ghost?

Just a quick reminder

Two more earrings I just uploaded- I kicked myself in the butt and I get stuff done!

and

I think these turned out pretty well. I hope I get a sale soon~~!

Another earring

Hey everyone. I am de-swelled for the most part from wisdom teeth and back in college. Woo-woo! But there is too much homework already but I am doing okay so far.

While I am still cranking a steady pace of earrings I am uploading them at a snails pace. I find it really hard to be creative with names and descriptions so it takes me a long time to get ready. However I have a brand new pair up which I am very proud of.

Earth Candy is a sweet candy wrapper shaped pair of earrings that I find fresh and lively. Got some really nice chalk turquoise stones that feel so cool to the touch- you feel extravagant when you touch them!

When I take my photos of my earrings now I have a spider watching me on the window. She is waiting for her babies to hatch and has a huuuge web on the window where I work. Since she eats bugs I will consider that her rent. Here is a picture of her "small" because she looks really scary big, and I don't want anyone reading my blog to cry.

Supplies are go!

Finally all 5 shipments arrived that I had been waiting for from Etsy arrived. I just got the biggest one today and I created three pairs of earrings. One of them is still in the works though, but the other two are done-da done done.

I am making a bracelet for my friend Leah, who will gift it to her friend for her birthday. I used spray paint on a raw brass piggie charm for it and it's currently setting. It will be ready to use tomorrow so I can complete the bracelet and upload pictures of it on here.

I got carded for the spray paint, but not for lottery tickets. The spray paint I bought is awesome. It's watermelon pink and I want to get a hold of some wicker furniture and go crazy on it. (Note to everyone: hide their white wicker furniture)

There was a deer in my yard today. Deer like to eat stuff in our yard. I went up to it and took a picture of it on my phone. It was like psh whatever, and jumped really high just to show off and will probably eat my garden. Jerk. They already ate a willow tree we planted. Maybe are cars should run on deers. Save the planet.

I get my stitches out from my wisdom teeth operation out on Wednesday morning. One stitch is dangling uncomfortably in my mouth now, but I have self control. I probably won't be able to eat real food for at least another week if only for my extreme paranoia. What if the rice teleports into my teeth hole!? Then what will I do!?

School starts tomorrow so I better hit the hay. Goodnight everyone!

beadweave away!

Yes it's a crappy picture from the my cell phone..but I made a ring! It's my first time successfully completing a beadweave project!
I kid you not, I was sweating making this ring. I had amazing success and failure with this sucker.
Mistake #1 seed bead size-
I didn't use the proper seed bead size in the directions because they weren't for sale at either firemountaingems.com and a local bead supply store called Afterglow, but I got something similar. So bigger seed bead size- bigger ring size potential. I got a little carried away, so badly that it doesn't fit on my thumb, and my thumb is king kong. Perhaps one of Hell's Angel's that has a huuuge thumb would wear my ring?
Mistake #2 Tie up.
Towards the end when I finished it I completed a simple knot and it frayed and was then untied, messing up the ring. I don't really care, because it's so huge, but still, it was disappointing. I have heard that a surgeon's knot works well so I will try and do that next time, with some practice of course.
Mistake #3... nymo thread.
I don't know if nymo is the only thread beadweavers should use but my gosh one little bitty mistake can ruin all your work. Is there a better solution to avoid nymos accidental thread poking?
Now for wins:
Win #1 First time's the charm.
I completed this design first time every doing it. I think that's pretty cool. (I have however tried other beadweaving projects that have ended in failure..)
Win #2
It's cute!!
Win #3 Such a great learning experience.
It's like your brain suddenly sucks up knowledge particles as you get further into the design and things just start to "click" all over the place. Very exciting!
Overall I am very pleased and I think I will try to make a more suitable version to sell very soon.
